Review: Bound for Salvation

Bound for Salvation Bound for Salvation by Kendra Leigh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading book 1 Bound for Hell, I did not think the Author could possibly beat that one, but she did and then some. This was a superb continuation to the series. Angel and Ethan had to deal with buried emotions, we were made aware via comments made in book 1 that Ethan had something big that was hidden in his past, and I felt that this book might be an end to their relationship once the secrets and lies are out, but to my surprise they dealt with the issues like adults and their relationship did not go under like I was sort of thinking might happen.

Honestly, you really need to read this series, it is absolutely terrific, and it just get better and better as the series is progressing.

I cannot wait to read the next instalment of this great series.

Broken Promises by Melissa Huie

Title: Broken Promises
Series: The Broken Road #2
Author: Melissa Huie
Publisher: Booktrope Publishing
Genre: Romantic Suspense
 Release Date: August 27, 2015

Blurb

The Sequel to the sexy, suspenseful novel The Broken Road.

“Not a day had gone by that I didn’t dream about Shane, that one day he would come home to us. I imagined that our days would be filled with long talks and moments of reconnection, and our nights would be full of hot, sweaty sex. But things weren’t going the way I had imagined. Baby steps, Megan. He just needs to adjust. I couldn’t change the past and we would have to take things in stride. We couldn’t be the same couple we once were, not overnight.”

When Shane Turner shows up at Megan Connors’s carport one rainy night, Megan thinks she’s dreaming. The man who has held her heart since high school, and the father of her unborn child, is supposed to be dead, killed in an explosion at a safe house. But somehow Shane has survived, and Megan believes that with him home safely and their baby on the way, they will finally get their happy ending.

But it soon becomes apparent that all is not what it seems. Shane is home, but he’s brought some demons back with him, demons that Megan can’t fight alone. Shane is a haunted man, plagued by paranoia and distrust. He believes that danger threatens their lives at every turn, and it is tearing their life together apart.

In this compelling sequel to The Broken Road, Shane must deal with the present and the future, with the cartel—and himself. Megan must protect her family and, when the time comes, must make the ultimate decision.

Will Shane and Megan have their happily ever after, or will it just be another broken promise?

Excerpt

“Good morning,” he said, his voice still thick with sleep. He wrapped his muscular arms around my belly from behind me, the evidence of his arousal pressed against the small of my back. My breath caught and my heart quickened as he nuzzled the sensitive spot under my ear. Just this one simple act had my core pulsing with liquid heat. His hands roamed north, barely grazing my belly, and tenderly kneaded my swollen breasts. Moaning, I tilted my head up toward his and caught his searing lips with mine.

Abandoning the pan in front of me, I turned and threw my arms around his neck. Passion fueled my body as our lips frantically mashed together. Our tongues clashed, dueling over the right to invade the other’s mouth. Shane’s hands cupped my behind, then gripped hard as he led me over to the table. He swept aside the napkins and papers that covered it and lifted me onto the smooth surface.

Red colored my vision as my primal need took over. Shane pulled off my bathrobe at the same moment I yanked down his sweatpants. My mouth watered at the size of his erection and I eagerly stroked his throbbing, rigid shaft. His head rolled back and he groaned at my touch. There was a time for cuddling and foreplay, but this wasn’t it. His hazel eyes smoldered, and he desperately ripped the thin material of my cotton underwear right out from under me. Craving his touch, his body, his heat against mine, I leaned back on my elbows and gave him the opening he wanted.

Review: Error in Diagnosis: A Medical Thriller

Error in Diagnosis: A Medical Thriller Error in Diagnosis: A Medical Thriller by Mason Lucas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The author of this book is actually a practising pediatric surgeon, who has still managed to find time to follow his passion which is writing. Being a surgeon has definitely given him an edge on writing a medical thriller, but he manages to create a great story, without having us mind boggled at the medical terminology which is very refreshing. I love this type of book but some medical thrillers can be a bit daunting when you have no clue as to what the medical terms mean, this book avoided that.

The story is about a mysterious illness which is only affecting pregnant women, but even more mysterious is that it is only happening in America. The rush is on to find out what is causing the illness, and how if possible to cure it.

We have one pig-headed doctor by the name Sinclair, I would describe him as being an arrogant ass who thinks he is right all the time. On the other hand we have Dr. Jack Wyatt, the total opposite, a really likeable character, this doctor is more like the person you would want on your side at the time of a crisis. He needs to find out the answer to the problem before Sinclair creates even more problems with his ideas on curing the pregnant women who are affected.

Of course pregnancy and childbirth are a blessing and any illness which threatens to harm these mothers and unborn babies is serious and is taken very serious, you can feel the lump in your throat as you read this book and hope that the lovely Dr Wyatt to get to the bottom of it before things are any worse.

There is so much going on in the story, you get drawn in deep, you cannot help but feel the helplessness at times of the medical team in their attempts to help these women and their unborn babies, but they keep going not stopping, checking and rechecking every small detail to see if they can pinpoint the cause of the illness. I do not really want to divulge any more of this story, you have to read it for yourself and believe me you will not be disappointed. I hated the times when I had to put it down to cook, or clean etc, and grabbed it as quick as I could to continue reading how things were progressing, or not a the case may be.

Author Bio

Perri Forrest was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in sunny California. She describes herself as a trilogy – a Businesswoman who navigates through Corporate America flawlessly from Human Resources to Project Management, a Sociologist with a burning desire to save the world, and an Author who loves writing life into fiction.

While her pen and paper consummated when she was pre-teen, her written words would not be seen until a long time after. Perri’s dream was always to write a book, but she didn’t take steps to do so out of fear that readers wouldn’t be interested in what she had to say.

When Perri suffered the devastating loss of her first cousin, in 2006, with a few months left to complete her undergraduate studies, she barely made it through. A good friend not only suggested that she begin blogging, that friend gifted her with a newly designed blog platform, which birthed her first e-journal.

The blog opened a whole new world for Perri and served as a place she could express candidly, about life. When her blog was discovered and she began receiving compliments on not just her candor, but on her writing style, it fueled the fire, and thoughts of penning a novel resurfaced.

The lingering doubts of, “Who would even want to read your work?” were replaced with, “Worry about an audience later, and just do it.”

And that she did.

Perri writes what she likes to call, Sensual Romance. “I call it romance with a lot of heat and passion,” she says. “It’s a sexy kind of intimacy that I love exploring through my characters. I enjoy seeing them connect on both intellectual and physical levels. That connection allows me to build erotic moments, with purpose, and satisfaction.”

Perri plans to perfect her craft and delve into other genres, down the line. With “Amazon bestselling author,” added to her list of credits, Perri is in the writing game for the long haul and has no intentions of putting down her pen any time soon.

Review: Devil's Chair

Devil's Chair Devil's Chair by Roy A. Teel Jr.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG, I am not quite finished this book yet but had to comment. This is one of the most gripping thrillers I have read in a long time. It is graphic, and gritty, horrific and clearly written with a very sharp eye for detail. I cannot wait to finish this.

I have now finished and will continue with the review.

Well I have been hooked on this book, it is one of those that has your head filled with OMG's love it, this author sure has a great talent he keeps you glued to your seat, the story is filled with a lot of information about the deaths, a bit of blood and gore at times, a lot of interaction going on between police, FBI and suspects.

I love the business side of the story, this added a bit of a different dimension to the story for me, I was constantly expecting the unexpected and being surprised that I missed a few things that I did not expect. I totally loved this thriller.

I received a copy of this from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, and I have to say that I am extremely happy I was given the opportunity to read such an awesome book

Review: Rouse the Demon

Rouse the Demon Rouse the Demon by Carolyn Weston
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the final instalment of the Krug and Kellogg series, it is a complex case for these pair of detectives, the death of hypnotherapist Dr. Stephen Myrick is not an easy case to solve, he was murdered, beaten to death at his home, with enough suspects to keep both detectives guessing.

Dr. Myrick was known to treat the obese, as well as recovering drug addicts. So of course there is no shortage of suspects. This story is full of surprises, lots of twists and turns, I love how the two detectives Kellog and Krug interact, the older cop teaching the new cop scenario.

Things start moving fast when suspects start vanishing and then turning up dead. It becomes a race to catch the killer before more people end up murdered too.

Carolyn Weston is definitely a master of the pen, she kept my interest all the way through the book from start to end. I do not want to give anything else away other than to say READ THIS BOOK!!

I was given a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley.

Review: The Other Me

The Other Me The Other Me by Saskia Sarginson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story is about Klaudia aka Eliza, and her uncle Ernst during a period spanning from WW2 to the present, it deals with past and present, discriminations, prejudices and lies. It definitely tugged at my heart strings, it was such a well written story, with a plot that is gripping. The author definitely has an amazing way of bringing her characters to life.

Ernst part of the story during WW2 is rather grim and harrowing, it tells of the horrors of wartime and is very traumatic at times. Another part the Author really gets through to the reader.

As a child Klaudia suffers bullying by her peers, her parents are much older than her contemporaries and as a child myself of older parents I could relate so much to Klaudia. There is a big difference with children when one has older parents to those who have young parents. My having older parents set me on the road to becoming a young parent, I did not want my kids being tormented like I had been although I was able to stand up for myself. This part of the book really struck a chord with me and the Author really wrote it with great skill.

Klaudia changed her name to Eliza and started a new life for herself and a new journey but living a lie cannot bring anything good! This is a must read.

I received a copy of this by the publishers via NetGalley in return for an honest opinion. This is my opinion!.

Review: Blind Spot

Blind Spot Blind Spot by Tom Kakonis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What the heck do you do when you fall asleep watching a show in the planetarium only to wake up and find your son Jeff has vanished. Of course, you seek help from the police, but if that fails you have no choice but to search for your son yourself. This is the basis of this story, but it is a fast action based story which will keep you gripped all the way through.

Marshall Quinn has taken his son watch the show in the planetarium while his wife Lori does some shopping, the aftermath of the kidnapping leaves Lori Quinn a total wreck like most mothers would be, virtually unable to function which leaves it down to Marshall to find the boy as he gets little or no help from the authorities. This becomes a really taught thriller, I was almost falling off the edge of my seat willing Marshall to find the boy, which as very well educated professor he is more than capable of doing, and as being far from rich he cannot afford to hire people to search for his son, leaving him the main person doing all the detective work he can in order to find where his son is being held.

Marshall is not really equipped for detective work, but his son is missing and he has to pull out every ounce of energy he has and concentrate on finding him, he has to pit his wits against the unknown whilst still dealing with the shock of his son Jeff being gone. It is every parent's worst nightmare, but this father is doing all he can to put his family back together and return his son to him and his wife.

I absolutely have to say this is an amazing read, I was in awe of the Author's ability to bring this story right into my heart, I felt what they felt, I really felt like I was there urging Marshall on, it tore at my heart too. I think this is a fabulous well written, realistic story.

I have to thank Brash Books and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this in return for an honest review, I am under no obligation to give anything other than my honest opinion and that is what I have done, this great story
