Review of FERALS (The Crow Talker) by Jacob Grey
I received a copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
The main character is a young boy named Caw, who at the tender age of 5 was kicked out of his home by his parents. He survived with the help of crows, he survived by foraging for food. He kept himself secluded until events took a turn, this involved a prison break and an attack by the escapees on a young girl called Lydia. Caw saves her and befriends her.
Caw realises the prisoners are like him, they too can communicate with animals, but more they can control them too, and before long Caw inadvertently ends up in the middle of an ancient war between good and evil, between those people who can turn into animals or control them either for good or evil.
This is a fast-paced, fun fantasy story. I liked all the different animals brought into the story, and would like to see more of them perhaps in the next story.
