Review: Blanche Passes Go

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has it all, from rape, abuse by spouses, intimidation, racial friction, family loyalty. Blanche is hired by a man called Archibald Carter to find out about her cousin's fiance, who he suspects is just a gold-digger, but the fiance is the sister of the man who 8 years earlier had raped Blanche. This leads to Blanche doing her own side investigation about her rapist, and perhaps his involvement in the murder of a local white woman.

This is a terrific story, it has all the elements to keep you engrossed, it will also make your mouth water at times with the descriptions of the food (yes it does).

I received a copy from the publishers Brash Books via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
